The app

Permafrost does not collect your data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party code that sends anything anywhere.

It reads your Photos library, with your permission, to copy the photos and their edited versions to the drive or network folder you choose, and it reads those copies back to check them. Your photos, and information about them, stay on your Mac and in the folder you chose. Nothing is sent to us.

The app uses the network for one purpose: to reconnect, without asking you again, to the network share you chose as the place for your backup.

Permafrost keeps its own settings and a record of what it has copied and checked on your Mac, and a spare copy of some small files from your backup so that it can repair the backup if one is damaged. You can delete the app and its data at any time. The backup folder is yours and is not touched.
